LIBRARY- Our Children’s Librarian, Melanie Goad is friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help with your library needs! Our Children’s Department is welcoming! We can make book recommendations, with locating information about science fair projects, and assist in understanding our Library Catalog. Patrons have access to a HUGE selection of books, audiobooks, movies, and more! Our goal is for EVERY child to leave with a book in their hand and a smile on their face!

STORYTIME- Storytimes with the PCLS are FUN filled 30 minute programs that will build language, literacy and listening skills while developing a love of books, the library and the joy of reading. Craft activities will explore a variety of media. These events are recommended for children 18 months to 5 years old. All library events are FREE and registration is required ONLY for larger events.

Storytimes are held weekly at all PCLS locations. Don’t forget to check out our CALENDAR for upcoming storytimes.

Dover Library Mondays at 10 a.m.
Hector Library Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
Russellville Library Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Atkins Library Thursdays at 10 a.m.

VOLUNTEERS-The Children’s Department could not offer the quality of programming and activities without the overwhelming support from donations and volunteers. Volunteering at the library helps the community, builds confidence, and offers skills to add to any resume. Volunteers MUST be 14 years old! If you are interested in volunteering at the library, please return a filled out Volunteer Application Form to your PCLS branch location.

DONATIONS- The Children’s Department takes donations of craft materials, children’s books, and children’s DVDs.  Any donations that CANNOT be added to and used in our collection, will be processed through the PCLS Book Store. The proceeds made from the PCLS Book Store go toward programming.

Check out our Donations Tab to see if you have something we could use.

Once again, the Junior Auxiliary of Russellville has helped PCLS!!  We want to give a big THANK YOU to them for their donation of a NEW Dewey Decimal Rug for the Children’s Department in the Russellville Library! If you get a chance, come by and see how great it looks!

Teachers and Home School Groups

Welcome to the Children’s Library! We welcome your class and thank you for wanting to bring your students to the library. Let us help you plan a class visit! With a scheduled visit we can offer you:

  • Mini story-time
  • Library orientation and tour
  • Research assistance for specific topics
  • Book talks
  • Information on the Summer Reading Program

Your class is always welcome to visit the library; however, the library gets very crowded with regularly scheduled library programs and other groups. Calling before you plan to visit will help avoid these busy times.

Please contact 968-4368 or email kids@popelibrary.org to schedule a visit. We look forward to seeing your class at the library!
