"Travis Park is really a large plaza, and in it is the grand monument of the Confederate dead, erected by the daughters of the Confederacy. The park is one block north of Houston Street, and is surrounded by various churched, St. Mark's Episcopal Church on the northeast corner, Temple Beth—El on the southeast, and the Travis Park Methodist Church on the Southwest."
